Not that this is a bad thing by any means, it's just that I can see a lot of people not being able to appreciate this album. This album utilizes a lot of electronically programmed instrumentation, with some real instruments thrown in here and there, which is really nothing new in terms of what Radiohead uses to create their music. What is notably different in The King of Limbs is the approach to these well known instruments; the infectious beats and flow of the songs still remain, yet, there is more emphasis on abstract structures and melodies, as opposed to previous efforts that introduced a very catchy and structured approach to their unique style.

Instead of over analyzing the sounds of this album, I highly recommend you check this one out. What can be taken from this album shouldn't be influenced by another person's opinion... I'm only here to tell you that I think it is a brilliant album.

New Chikubi Single "Old Soul"

I finally figured out some of the hardware issues I was having, and found a way for me to do some better quality ambient songs for Chikubi. So much awesome shit happened last night at Nerdacon that I'm not too sure how much I can go over without making this blog a good few pages long. But even Panda will tell you himself how awesome it was to play in front of a bunch of cosplayers and weebos. They loved us. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to boost my ego or anything, but it was really cool to see a ton of people come up to us wanting pictures and autographs. I busted my ass a couple times haha, and my shoe flung up as I fell and nearly busted the ceiling. At the end of the set we had this crazy ass, but short, noise jam, and went fucking ape shit on our equipment. I really hope that we get to play there again next year.

Other than the show and the other great bands that played, the atmosphere was incredible. I felt really comfortable being there, and there was so much awesome shit to do. And cosplay chicks, who doesn't love a group of hot cosplay chicks? Outside at the clock tower they had a large section of the grassy area in front of the clock tower sort of closed with some rope. In side that little arena were a bunch of guys beating the snot out of each other with homemade swords. Shit looked fun as hell, but a waiver had to be signed. Apparently the waiver stated that if you agreed to whatever terms, and if you didn't follow the rules, the leader had the right to beat you down with the PVC pipe. They had a game room too (what convention doesn't have one?), with some pretty awesome games there too. Of course, it takes fucking forever to even get your turn, but otherwise that was pretty damn tight.

For the majority of the time, the people that had really no interest in the whole scene they were surrounded in were in the middle of the little wood floor they had, dancing to whatever DJ was playing at the time.

Oh, and we spent a good hour or more talking to a gay Buddhist. Awesome shit.

Zietgiest

After watching the first 72 minutes (Megavideo will only allow me to watch that much daily), I can say that it is the biggest pile of bullshit. The manipulation they claim in all of the movie is just the manipulation they're putting on the viewer, using scare tactics and emotion as a tool for you to forget your own reasoning and logic. It's just a bunch of elementary propaganda compiled into one little movie, and I don't get how people could even call it a credible source of information considering that their own sources aren't even credible to begin with. I can't even described how pissed off I am at this documentary, and how people can actually believe this shit. The evidence they give you is a bunch of vague, unsited shit. Not to mention their "evidence" is modified in order to firther justify this propaganda bullshit.

But, that wont still keep me skeptical about some of the coincidental incidences of the "terrorist" bombings (not 9/11) that have happened in the last decade and a half. Just the way the things are looking, we don't know EVERY SINGLE THING about either side of this, and there's really NO way to start assuming these radical ideas.

I could go on but, you know how much I can really get into it. I might continue my ideas on all of this some time in the near future, but I'm really not interested in being pissed off at the moment.

Sorry Chance, I still love you though : p

Organic Dildo Goggles

New split from Panda and Chikubi, Organic Dildo Goggles

Artwork: Elliott
Musical Nipples: Joseph - lead guitars for all Chikubi songs
Panda - All Panda songs and back up guitars/effects on all Chikubi songs, recording

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zn2knonolwz

Another update

The past two days... well all I can say is that I don't remember much from them hahahaha. But we did record some shit and it sounds alright. We spent a little time making a list of really awesome song titles and potential EP titles, but for now we're on a break as I'm going to the beach this weekend with family. The EP SHOULD be done next week (I don't know when it will ever be if it's not because of school).

The new EP has sort of the same feel as the last, except the songs itself are more irrational and doesn't feel like you're in a wet dungeon. A few of them might even surprise you, or even offend you. Anyhow, the EP shall be released soon.

Chikubi/The Wanderer update

Panda and I have very big plans for the next EP. I'm coming back to Columbus on Sunday and I'm planning on picking up some more effects pedals to try to see what other sounds I can get out of my guitar, then shortly after that Panda and I will probably go through a much longer writing process to sort of perfect the kind of sound we're trying to get. Hopefully, we can get some synths and some percussion in, it really all depends on what we can do with what we have. But regardless of the lack of amazing equipment, we're going to work a lot harder on this one. French Airport Hallucinations was just an improvised moment capture on a computer, not a whole lot of planning went into it and it was sort of an in the moment kind of thing. Seriously, we did all of those tracks on first take and with no linear direction (with the exception of Panda's tracks).

So hopefully our next EP will sexier and even more amazing than our last. We'll try at least haha. Another thing though, Elliott from Skinny Insect and Jet Plane Cinema (another two solo bands you should really look into, amazing stuff; both will have a new album soon.) might contribute to the artwork for the next EP. Hey man, if you see this, hit me up about what you can do for us, if you want to.

Haha, I guess I'm a little too excited, but I really can't wait to put all of this together with Panda.

French Airport Hallucinations EP

Chikubi (my project) + The Wanderer (Panda from Oodles of Noodle's solo project) all in one sexy little EP

Credits:
Joseph- Guitar tracks 1-4 and 8, vocals on track 8
Panda- Guitar tracks 1-4 and 8 and complete composition on 5-7, producer, vocals on track 8, cover art.

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?tt2ljxnblyg

Chikubi update

Amidst all my bullshit ranting, I have news about the upcoming Chikubi EP. It's going to have to be put on hold, as I've been a little busy this summer and neither have I been able to get the proper software to record my songs (which haven't even been near completion). Also, I decided on what I want to do, I'm going to take this in a more ambient and experimental direction.

One more thing, this will be delayed because the bassist for Oodles of Noodles (Jacob, AKA Butters) might join the project with me and help me record it all whenever he gets his new macbook. I'm trying my best to get this done by the of summer.

So, until then, I'll be trying to figure things out...

Summer Side Show 7

This was my first SSS, actually. The last few years I had the chance to, I ended up not being able to go because of sudden schedule changes. But now I can give my opinion of it.

Well, for the most part, most of the music sucked. Out of the 100+ bands that played, most of them were unoriginal crappy deathcore bands (and a lot of my friends agree). But, still, there were plenty of bands that played that made it worth my time, and blew my mind. Other than the obvious orgasmic selection of bands that played (Skinny Insect, Triads, Cuffs, Stereomonster, Blackheart, that rockabilly band who's name I forget, Oodles of Noods), there were some that I had never even heard of that were very good. One fine example was, She Came From Above. The name sorta sounds like another deathcore band to be ignored, but they are far from that. They can be described as this: If Kurt Cobain took a shit ton of acid and LSD and wrote an album. Very cool shit. Another good band I found was Tetrarch. They're a thrash band from Atlanta, and there's one thing that makes them VERY unique. They have a black female guitarist that would make Herman Li cry in a shred-off. Sadly, I never caught most of their set because I had no idea they were playing (which is why having 5 stages is kinda retarded, and having a million bands all try to play within a day).

Another staple of the show, for me, was getting to meet the people behind Hooker Vision and Nova Scotian Arms, and hanging out with Elliot of Skinny Insect. Very cool people, I really look forward to seeing them again. Hopefully, when I get my EP out, they may be interested in getting me involved with Hooker Vision. I'd freak out if I could ever get to see a Chikubi recording on the merch booth of Hooker Vision, in the sexy classic tape or modern CD.

Anyhow, it was hot as fuck. All the little white kids cowered in the shade as their skin turned into crispy flecs of bacon and bicep sausages. A few of my pale friends turned into a tomatoe, and nearly cooked alive in the desert heat of the inside stages. The AC did NOTHING. Even when the sun set and it was nice outside, the inside still kept its attributes to a toaster oven. Most of us were beaten and tired by the end of the day (shit, I could barely walk after the Oodles of Noodles show), and we had all known that the show was great. I'm not too sure if I'll show up next year, though, unless they find a better catalouge of bands to play there to make up the bulk of the day. Sitting around from 12PM to 6PM in summer heat just to see the bands that you want seriously sucks buttjuice from the daimond studded anus of Prince. Now, my whole body is sore, and I'm still tired although I got decent sleep last night, my bed is the only place I want to be right now.

In effort to explain my awkwardness

People have known me for being really...dumb. Not because I am, but because I can't seem to fit myself in "normal" social situations with people that hail themselves as being "cool". I had a lot of this sort of conflict when I started playing for and hanging out with Blackheart and a variety of other people in the scene. Don't get me wrong, Blackheart are a cool lot of people, but where my mind is most of the time is nowhere in between the lines of them and anybody else. My social fallacies make me a social reject. They also subject me to being treated like shit. Why? I have two theories. I'll start with my medical conditions.

I have terrible anxiety issues. Not only does this totally skew my normal thought processes, but it also makes me feel like I'm not even alive. This also causes me to think a lot more agressively on how I should act around others. I tend to find a lot of people as egotistical pieces of shit (if you're my friend or if I'm nice to you, you do not fall into this catagory) and I blatantly try to act "different" or make no sense at all to humor myself. I see people from another angle and I try to fuck with their logic and their tolerance for generally stupid shit. This is why a lot of people note me as being an erratic/immature person. I'm never comfortable with being usual or normal, its just too fucking boring to me to be like 99.9% of the earths population and act like what should have grown on me from other people's mainstream social skill and ability and behavior.

The other medical condition I have is really bad sleep apnea. This is the main contributor to why I never even feel or realize that I'm a human being or actually existing. Everything feels like an intoxicated blur to me, and I have terrible recollection of things because I never feel like anything has solidity or realism to it. This greatly affects my concentration and perspective on my own behavior and how I should act. Hopefully I'll have effective treatment this month, I have another followup appointment to my sleeping test on the 10th of this month. I may have to get throat surgery, too.

Those two together produces a terrible person such as myself. This is why I never start up interesting conversations and talk about useless shit whenever I try, and why I can never truly get my point across in a conversation without being interrupted with the assumption that whatever will come out of my mouth will not be worth anybody's time or respect to even pay attention.
